雙語教育目標有二:
一、 厚植全球溝通力( global communication )
全球溝通力的培養,應以厚實的聽、說、讀、寫等基本語文素養為基礎,並具有生活所需的文字知能, 方能進一步與他人在生活及人際進行溝通。而在雙語教育政策的推動上,主力將英語文視為工具, 做為全球化國際互動的語言基礎。 因此本項能力之培養,著重於透過生活脈絡的語言使用,加上領域學科知識學習的運用,厚植學生以英語文為溝通工具之能力。
The cultivation of global communication skills should be based on basic language literacy such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing,in order to further communicate with others in life and interpersonal. As for the promotion of bilingual education policy, the main force regards English as a tool and as the language basis for globalized international interaction. Therefore, the cultivation of this ability focuses on the use of language through the context of life, coupled with the application of domain subject knowledge learning, to strengthen students' ability to use English as a communication tool.
二、 提升未來競爭力( competitiveness )
面對未來更密切的全球化互動與顯著的全球公民責任, 學生未來競爭力的內涵不僅應關照全球市場、多元文化與國際社會的理解,以培養學生具備全球性的視野與國際移動力, 才能讓學生因應更複雜、更具不確定的未來挑戰。
In the face of closer global interaction and significant global citizenship in the future, the connotation of students’ future competitiveness should not only take care of the global market, but also multi-cultural and international society’s understanding, in order to cultivate students’ global vision and international mobility. Allow students to cope with more complex and uncertain future challenges.
